Ashley Heathcock has worked in the film and tv industry for over a decade collaborating with other filmmakers as a costume designer. This was a great way for Ashley to learn from writers and directors in a professional environment.
After moving back down south from Los Angeles to her new home, a haunted river town, she has been inspired to write own own screenplays with plans to direct. Ashley loves the collaboration of filmmaking, where the final product is a beautiful alchemy of everyone's individual contribution. Heathcock's screenplays fall into the southern gothic genre.
Ashley's costume design experience has brought her to Canada and Mexico in addition to many of the US states. Recently she designed NIGHT COMES in Vancouver working with a longtime collaborator, Jay Hernandez (Magnum P.I.) as director and starring Dafne Keen, Alexander Ludwig and Samantha Lorraine. The costumes in NIGHT COMES are one-of-a-kind upcycled post-apocalyptic designs inspired by the character's surroundings and thier individual personalities. Her most recent TV series to air is FOX'S RESCUE HI-SURF a John Wells production. In 2023 she traveled to Mexico to shoot KUNG FU GAMES, produced by Shannon McIntosh (ONCE APON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD) and H. Daniel Gross (HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTIONS). This fun martial arts film features her ability to design custom fight wear inspired by the history of Kung Fu.
She began her costume career by designing short films and music videos. PLEASANT CANYON, which won best short at Mammoth Film Festival. Then came the features: DARK MERIDIAN, winning awards at Festival of Cinema NYC and Madrid International Film Festival. Afterwards she designed Clark Duke's crime drama ARKANSAS, with the all-star cast of Vince Vaughn, Liam Hemsworth, John Malkovich, and Vivica Fox. Simultaneously Ashley's designed network TV, season 2 & 4 of CBS' MAGNUM P.I.. In 2022 Heathcock designed Amanda Kramer's PLEASE BABY PLEASE starring Andrea Riseborough, Harry Melling, Demi Moore, and Karl Glusman. Please Baby Please is thrilling 1950s fantasy film which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. In 2023 she joined the series BIG SKY as costume designer, working with Reba Mcentire and Jensen Ackles. Heathcock believes that Costume Design is a medium where both her fashion background and the art of textile manipulation are united.
Ashley Heathcock has always been a storyteller and is excited to pursue this new challenge within an industry she holds very dear to her heart. As an avid movie-goer in her youth she values the human connection and shared experience the movie theater provides.
